About the President, Mary Davolt

In only six years, Mary Davolt has grown CMS Group from a home-based consulting business run out of her basement to a successful firm with 11 employees in 2009. Mary found her niche in the construction business by supporting specialized software programs that help these companies work more efficiently, which positively affects their productivity and profitability. CMS Solutions Group is respected at a national level for their industry expertise, not only because Mary and her team of accountants and software specialists understand the workflow process, but because they are willing to help guide and assist their peers.

Mary originally was employed by a CPA firm in downtown Naperville. By day, she honed her skills working with the audit and tax concerns of closely-held construction companies. At night and on weekends, she was a non-traditional student at North Central College in Naperville, obtaining her degree in accounting and computer science. Because of her unique skills set which combined accounting, IT and construction knowledge, she was hired to meet the challenges of a fast growing Naperville construction company.  Although she loved her role as Chief Financial Officer, she felt she was wanted to devote more time to her family.  In 2001, she began Davolt Consulting in the basement office of her Naperville home. Providing system consulting and “CFO on the go” functions for companies, her word-of-mouth business began to grow. As construction companies continued to tap into her extensive industry knowledge, appreciating her easygoing demeanor, friendliness and problem-solving capabilities, the business continued to grow. She soon moved out of the basement and today, CMS Group is located in offices in Aurora.

Mary and CMS have become recognized leaders in the field, garnering numerous awards and recognitions including Influential Women in Business in 2008. But she never loses sight of why she started her business: take care of your customers and they will take care of you.
